Honey Dew is a retreat for Smoky Mountain visitors who want to avoid the crowds of tourists in
Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge without sacrificing convenience. Guests are welcome to explore
beyond the property’s three and a half private acres into the adjoining 640,000 acre Cherokee
National Forest which is home to more than 20,000 species of plants and animals. Despite the
solitude, Honey Dew is only a 9 mile drive from the Walmart Supercenter in Newport, and only 6
miles from the Cosby entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
Wildlife abounds in Honey Dew’s quiet surroundings. Beyond the daily songbirds, we have
seen turkeys, black bears, birds of prey and more! The covered front porch is a perfect place to
spend a misty morning or starry evening experiencing the Appalachian forest while soaking in
the hot tub or relaxing in a rocking chair.
The cabin offers an expansive floor plan with 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, a spacious eat-in
kitchen, and living room with a wood-burning fireplace.

Nearly all of the area attractions, including Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, are all less than 30
miles away.
Honey Dew is less than one hour away from the Sugarland Visitor Center in the Great Smoky
Mountain National Park as well as other popular attractions in the park. It is 6 miles to the
Cosby entrance to the national park and 4 miles to the Foothills Parkway.
Walmart Supercenter is 9 miles away. Less than two miles to a Dollar General and Carver’s
Apple Orchard and Restaurant.

We will get you started with toilet tissue, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, trash bags and
hand soap to last a day or two. If your reservation is longer, you will want to bring more of these
items.

Bath linens including hot tub towels, bed linens, cookware, baking dishes, dinnerware and
utensils, some spices, including salt and pepper.
How private is the cabin?
Honey Dew is at the very end of the road, surrounded by forest with only one other home
visible.
Are there bears and other wildlife?
Yes, there is wildlife in the area including bears but most wildlife is shy and frightened off by
noise. Guests are asked to use caution with regards to food storage and trash disposal etc.
How many does the cabin sleep?
Honey Dew currently sleeps 4 people. We have two bedrooms, a queen bed in the master and
two twin beds in the 2nd bedroom.
Is there fishing close to the cabin?
There is good fishing in nearby Cosby Creek, a blue ribbon trout stream as well as along the
Pigeon River. A Tennessee fishing license is required.

Are there hiking trails close to the cabin?
Cosby, Tennessee borders the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the Cherokee
National Forest. Many of the most popular hikes and waterfall trails begin near the park’s
Cosby entrance--about 10 minutes from Honey Dew. Hen Wallow Falls trailhead is located in
the Cosby Picnic Area of the national park.
Is there canoeing and kayaking or whitewater rafting in the area?
Yes, Hartford, TN offers kayaking and whitewater rafting. There are several outfitters less than
9 miles away. Canoeing is popular on the lower half of the Pigeon River going into Newport.
Douglas Lake and the French Broad River are 25 miles away.
